This month I had to renew my membership with The Screen Actor's Guild. A perfect reminder that no matter who stood in my way, or how many doors shut in my face, I kept going. Many come to Hollywood to try and most fail, but for those of us who sweat tears and stay in the game, it's a sign of God's favor, the public's love and our determination to succeed period.
If you have followed my career up until now, then you know when I was broke, when I had it all and lost it, when bipolar disorder took my life for a spin and almost lost myself. You know the many times I ate dirt and the many times my crown fell off my head and I had to pick it up, dust it off, place it back on my head and continue walking. You know that what I always wanted was to sing and dance and entertain you. Having experienced so many situations in life that break us as human beings, I wanted to take you places where your head would be wrapped around something else rather than those moments that were eating us inside like acid. With my songs we dance, with my movies and TV Shows, we laugh, we cry and we learn. My mission as an artist is to spread joy, and as human being inspire others to after what they want, many did before me and served as inspiration, many will after me and my story will be theirs. I didn't know how I would make it happen, I just believed I would see it happen, trusted in God in myself, my actions speak louder than words.
