I woke up this morning to a message an artist posted regarding all the things we have to do these days to stay on top of our game. Usually we hear of recording artists complaining of the EVIL ways record labels handle things. Labels don't pay enough, they sign you up and don't have creative freedom, the list goes on and on. Well, the post from this person was backwards, artists these days have to do all the creating, the promotion, the editing. I could not believe how unhappy one can be, If you have everything handed to you on a silver platter, you complain, if you have to do the work you complain. Come on!!!
Being an artist is WORK and I say that in capital letters because it truly is, but you have to be in love with this career, the lows, the highs, You have to love everything about it. Those who love you for your work and bless those who try to get in your way. If it was easy everyone would do it. I have days when I wonder how I got so mixed up in this business and why I can't put it down. It's because of everything it involves, EVERYTHING!
I wrote a post earlier this month on how everyone want's to be a superstar but no one want's to work for it. Living life in the spot light has more dark days sometimes than those filled with rainbows. But for me, even with all the hardships and heart breaks when I wasn't selected to play the role in a movie for example, I tell You, I love the people, I love being able to dance and sing together, to hug everyone and share this wonderful world with all of You. Artists, I hope one day You realize that the freedom we now have, the tools and the hard work we put in creating our music, is all part of the blessing of being us, and that the public already has problems of their own and don't need to hear us complaining, because we are put on this earth to spread Joy.
I love my career, I love my public, and I am grateful with God every second of my life that I am an Artist. To all my colleagues I send you my love, to You my fans, Blessings and thank you for all your support.
