While reading the August issue of Muscular Development Magazine, the impressive physique of Nick Walker definitely grabbed my attention, but as I was loving the cover, I ventured inside to read his interview with Ron Harriss. What an inspirational story, too many of his answers went along with my ideals, beliefs and form of thinking.
The first was his quote, which I have to share with you right off the bat. “If you want to be a champion, you have to talk like you’re a champion, act like you're a champion, work like you’re a champion, inspire and motivate like you’re a champion.” For me as an artist, who works, studies, and prays every day. I find myself with days like you, when not everything is working out and have to find inner motivation to keep going. A dream is only a dream if you never take action and do the things you must do to move forward. Levels of energy fluctuate all the time, but when you are truly self-disciplined and driven no matter what gets in your way. Having tunnel vision weeds out the naysayers. Nick is going after the Mr. Olympia title. I applaud that, WOW!
Just like Nick, I have goals I am after and I also deal with negative individuals who try to discourage me. Another thing that I admired about his successful story is the support he has from his family, they attend all of his events wearing Walker Nation Shirts. What a blessing that is. When I started performing, my parents did attend several of my events, but one day, they weren’t there anymore. My mother claims she overheard someone making nasty remarks about me and felt disgusted. She tried to make me stop doing what I love and cut off all the support. I mean come on, as if everyone on the face of the earth is supposed to love me ONLY. If this is you in any way with family or friends I am here to encourage you also, and tell you, Get Real. Not everyone will like you, and it doesn't matter, because in the end, if they were better than you in any way, they would be in a better place, but when you are the one who is in the spotlight, some just don’t like that. But these are our dreams, our sweat, and our triumph, so keep going.
