The World’s No.1 Superstar®, Sidow Sobrino in Surviving the Cartel

Director Ely Bams originally cast The World’s No.1 Superstar® as "Bodyguard II" in the gripping TV series Surviving the Cartel—a survival thriller told through three powerful perspectives: a Silicon Valley executive returning to Mexico, a former Mexican Navy operative risking everything to cross into the U.S., and an El Paso detective haunted by inner demons.

In January 2021, the production company 1265 Films invited Sidow Sobrino to take on a more prominent role—portraying Roque Tamez in future episodes titled Plato Que Se Sirve Mejor Frío, Tempietto of Bramante, and Muerte Del Alma, all slated for release in 2022.

On March 22, SAG-AFTRA issued a public “Do Not Work Notice” regarding Surviving the Cartel, citing concerns over the show’s “hybrid casting” model—where many guest-starring roles were assigned via online popularity votes. As a committed SAG-AFTRA member, The World’s No.1 Superstar® made the professional decision to withdraw from the series in accordance with union guidelines.

All that remains of his involvement is a chilling scene from the pilot episode, in which his character tragically dies from a fentanyl overdose—a synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, responsible for a growing number of fatal cases worldwide.
