However, Sobrino sees no problem with it—only opportunity.
"Once we understand that if you're blessed enough to have life grant you a head start in any race, take it," says the Bite After Bite singer. "I urge the public to stop whining and come to their senses. Life is not fair, but for some, the table was set even before they were born. Inside, we all wish it was us, and others do it too. Take advantage. I'm not that fortunate in our industry, but that hasn’t stopped me from believing God has amazing blessings for me, and I build those doors myself. Yay, nepotism bothers some and benefits others—I could care less. I trust in who I am and believe that privileges can still be earned in our way. I actually applaud it."
In addition to the nepotism conversation, the internet is buzzing about The White Lotus’ eyebrow-raising incest kiss between Schwarzenegger and Nivola’s characters. While some are appalled, Sobrino takes a more layered approach.
"Okay, gross. But I think I’m influenced more by the moral conduct that religion has conditioned us to have about it," he admits. "I make it absolutely clear that it's not at the top of my list. However, once I moved past that, watching my colleagues get into it, I was like—right on! What merit—giving the audience a lot to think about. Taboo or not, here we are, all of us discussing it. That’s how Mike White decided to paralyze our world and keep us engaged—a true art form."
Sobrino and his husband, Richard, have been avid fans of The White Lotus, following all three seasons with admiration. "My God, as an actor, I want to be a part of this iconic world," he adds.
