Menudo, the legendary Latin pop group that took the world by storm in the late 20th century, became a cultural phenomenon thanks to its rotating lineup and infectious energy. From its explosive beginnings in 1977, the group’s ever-evolving roster allowed fresh talent to constantly redefine the sound, leaving an undeniable imprint on music history. One of its most famous alumni, Ricky Martin, helped elevate the group’s profile during the mid-1980s before launching a stellar solo career.
Though Menudo’s original era slowed by the late ’90s, the brand proved timeless. In 2007, a new chapter began when the band was reintroduced to a modern audience through a televised search for the next generation of stars.
In this iconic photo, The World's No. 1 Superstar®, Sidow Sobrino takes center stage flanked by two of the reimagined group’s standout members:

José Antonio Montañez (Monti): – Hailing from Caguas, Puerto Rico, and later rooted in Laredo, Texas, Monti joined Menudo as its eldest member at just 19. With a background shaped by military family life and time spent abroad in Germany, he brings a worldly flair to the group. Deeply connected to his heritage, Monti fuses Latin genres like salsa, bachata, and merengue with modern pop rhythms, keeping Menudo’s spirit alive with bold new flavor.
Carlito Emmanuel Olivero: Born and raised in Chicago, Carlito Olivero carries both Mexican and Puerto Rican roots that pulse through every note he sings. In 2007, his journey took a bold turn when he responded to a Craigslist casting call that led him to join the reimagined Menudo. Though the group’s run was brief, Carlito used the platform as a springboard, setting his sights on bigger stages.
Relocating to Los Angeles, he carved a path in both music and acting. He grabbed national attention as a standout finalist on The X Factor, and delivered a breakout performance in the film We The Party. Carlito’s dedication to hustle and vision culminated in the release of his debut album D.D.B.R.W.S. – Dreams Don't Become Reality While Sleeping in 2015—a bold statement and a personal mantra that defines his unstoppable drive.
