LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA / KOLKATA, INDIA

Sidow Sobrino has earned the Best Music Video (Honorable Mention) at the Beyond Border International Film Festival (BBIFF) in Kolkata, India, for his cinematic music video Dangerous Joy.

Held in the renowned "City of Joy," the Beyond Border International Film Festival is a seasonal live-screening international festival dedicated to celebrating inventive filmmaking and promoting cross-cultural understanding. Every submission is evaluated by a jury of film industry professionals on artistic merit, originality, and creative vision. In addition to category winners, the festival recognizes exceptional projects through its Finalist and Honorable Mention distinctions.

The recognition further strengthens Dangerous Joy's growing international presence within India's independent film community. The music video has been met with strong reception across the country and now adds the Beyond Border International Film Festival honor to its expanding list of international accolades, following its Honorable Mention at the Caravan International Film Festival in Kolkata.

Directed by Sidow Sobrino, Dangerous Joy presents a visually symbolic exploration of love confronting anonymous opposition. Stark black-and-white silhouettes represent condemnation, religious rigidity, and fear, while vibrant color gradually overtakes the darkness as the story unfolds. Crystal hearts, rainbow imagery, and intimate moments between straight, lesbian, and gay couples transform the visual landscape into a celebration of love's resilience.

Sidow Sobrino appears alongside his husband, Richard Sidow-Sobrino, through a series of symbolic transformations—including two grooms, two brides, and a groom-and-bride pairing—challenging rigid binaries while affirming the video's central message: love has no fixed form, only perception shaped by fear or freedom.

Blending cinematic storytelling with contemporary pop production, Dangerous Joy has continued to gain recognition from international film festivals for its artistic ambition, emotional depth, and commitment to visual innovation.

As the international festival circuit continues, Dangerous Joy further establishes Sidow Sobrino's expanding presence as an independent filmmaker and visual storyteller whose work continues to resonate with audiences across multiple continents.
