When Life Gives You Lemons

You know that saying that goes, "When Life gives you lemons make lemonade." Well, that is a is a proverbial phrase used to encourage optimism and a positive can-do attitude in the face of adversity or misfortune. Lemons suggest sourness or difficulty in life; making lemonade is turning them into something positive or desirable.

I don't like lemonade, I refuse to drink it, it's just not something I ever cared for, and among a few thing about me, If I don't like it, I wouldn't have it around to offer it to anyone else. But I do love lemons, I just don't like mixing it and making it sweet with sugar. The only way I drink lemons is when I mix it with honey and add chunks of mango, strawberries or Kiwi fruit.

So this week I was dealing with life situations that were out of my control, I even missed my therapy session with my psychologist, yes I talk to a psychologist, I am man enough to own the fact that enjoy therapy, and I am not the only person in the world, ask CNN Anchor Chris Cuomo, it is a very healthy think to do. Once I realized my normal exercise routine was not enough, and everything I tried to do was going south, I reached out to my church and talked to someone there, we prayed together and soon enough the issues I was facing started melting away, so I created my own saying "When Life gives you lemons, Pray to God first for direction, and go for a 4.5 mile run!!!"

Praying helped me strengthen my faith and relationship with God, and the exercise aid me with fighting anxiety and see that any feelings of depression were in check. It worked. I felt very good for doing so, and after that felt even better for having done the right thing, I now have a new coping skills that work well together. In the past I may have done neither or one or the other, but trust me when I tell you, together, I experienced wonders.
